A Devonshire Collective exhibition was based on the following idea; " the show is to take place over the winter solstice, the darkest part of the year but also the time when we turn on the festive lights and brighten up the dark nights with cosy fires; a time to dream, or a time of nightmares; dark secrets, festive celebrations or a time of relaxation".  The Night Garden painting shown is part of a long-running series of paintings based on children’s paddling pools in gardens. Although the title may suggest an innocent children’s TV program, a closer examination of this intimate work will reveal that all is not as it seems.
